Why We Anoint Every Board with Oil
The practice of anointing with oil goes back thousands of years. In the Bible, anointing was used to set apart people and objects for sacred purposes. Kings, priests, and prophets were anointed as a sign of God's blessing and empowerment.
At JESUSONDECK, we continue this tradition with every board we create. After the laser engraving is complete and the finish has cured, we take each board through a simple but meaningful ceremony.
The Process:
First, we inspect every detail of the work, ensuring the quality meets our standards. Then, with a small amount of blessed oil, we make the sign of the cross on the board while saying a prayer for the rider.
We pray for protection—that the rider stays safe on the streets and in the parks. We pray for joy—that every session brings that feeling of freedom that skating uniquely provides. And we pray for purpose—that the board serves as a reminder of something greater.
"People ask me if it really makes a difference," says the founder. "I tell them it makes a difference to us. We're not just shipping products. We're sending out pieces of our faith."
Whether you see it as symbolic or spiritual, the anointing represents our commitment to intentional craftsmanship. Every board is made with purpose, blessed with hope, and sent with prayer.
Ride blessed.
